South Carolina went into Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on a three-game losing streak and left with a 38-19 win over No. 16 Florida. The yardage was nearly even, 393 to 387. The difference was LaNorris Sellers, who accounted for five touchdowns, and a Florida offense that turned the ball over three times while the Gamecocks gave it away none.

South Carolina scored 28 of the game's last 34 points after trailing 10-7 in the second quarter.

How it was won

Florida struck first. Aaron Philo found Bailey Stockton for a 59-yard touchdown at 11:25 of the first quarter. South Carolina answered with 12 seconds left in the quarter on a 15-yard Sellers pass to Nyck Harbor.

The second quarter traded field goals: Patrick Durkin from 21 yards for Florida, Malik Orsan from 37 for South Carolina. Then Sellers hit Mazeo Bennett Jr. from 12 yards with 1:47 left in the half, and the Gamecocks went to the locker room up 17-10.

Durkin's 48-yard field goal early in the third cut it to 17-13. That was as close as Florida got. Sellers threw a 26-yard touchdown to Donovan Murph at 8:36, then ran one in from a yard out at 1:08 to make it 31-13. His fourth touchdown pass, 21 yards to Lex Cyrus at 8:07 of the fourth, put it at 38-13. Jadan Baugh's 2-yard run with 1:01 left closed the scoring after a failed two-point pass.

Sellers finished 23 of 35 for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Harbor led the receivers with 4 catches for 83 yards, and DJ Black added 3 for 42. The run game was spread out: Matt Fuller had 52 yards on 10 carries and Jabree Coleman 39 on 7, part of 114 rushing yards.

The Gamecocks converted 10 of 16 third downs and held the ball for 30:37.

Florida moved the ball. Philo was efficient at 21 of 28 for 227 yards, with a touchdown and an interception, and ran 13 times for 32 yards. Stockton caught 8 passes for 127 yards and Dallas Wilson 8 for 74. Baugh ran 15 times for 59 yards. But the Gators went 6 of 13 on third down, and three turnovers against a clean South Carolina sheet decided a game that the box score otherwise calls a draw.

Against the number

Florida closed as a 10.5-point favorite. South Carolina covered without needing the points, winning outright at +350 on the moneyline. Florida closed at -455.

The total closed at 59.5, and 57 points went under. Baugh's late touchdown got it close, but the failed conversion and Florida's three field goals in place of touchdowns kept it short.

Prices, line history and the market's view of both teams are on the game page.

What's next

South Carolina (3-3) has two weeks before hosting No. 14 Tennessee on Saturday, October 24. The Gamecocks' three losses came by a combined 50 points, though the last two before Saturday were one-score games against Mississippi State and No. 24 Kentucky.

Florida (4-2) has dropped two straight, losing 45-17 at No. 25 Missouri before this one. The schedule does not ease: the Gators travel to No. 7 Texas on Saturday, October 17, on ABC. The wins over No. 4 Ole Miss and at Auburn showed what this offense can do. Three turnovers at home showed what it cannot afford in Austin.
