No. 14 Missouri won this one on the ground and on the other side of the ball. Jamal Roberts carried 34 times for 222 yards and two touchdowns. The Tigers' defense held Texas A&M to 216 total yards, 27 of them rushing, and kept the Aggies out of the end zone all afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

The final was 27-6 on Saturday, October 10. Missouri moves to 5-1. Texas A&M falls to 3-3.

How it was won

Texas A&M scored first. David Olano hit a 53-yard field goal with 4:46 left in the first quarter for a 3-0 lead. That was the last time the Aggies led.

Missouri answered early in the second quarter. Austin Simmons found Cayden Lee for a 32-yard touchdown at 12:58, and Blake Craig's kick made it 7-3. Craig added a 50-yard field goal at 8:40 for a 10-3 halftime lead.

Craig kept going after the break. His 51-yard field goal at 12:30 of the third made it 13-3. Roberts then scored from 2 yards out as the third quarter expired, and Craig's kick pushed the margin to 20-3.

Olano's 27-yard field goal at 9:51 of the fourth cut it to 20-6. Roberts closed it with 2:49 to go, breaking a 54-yard touchdown run. Craig's kick set the final.

The box score tells the same story. Missouri outgained Texas A&M 394 to 216 and ran for 247 yards to the Aggies' 27. The Tigers had 20 first downs to 10 and converted 6 of 16 on third down. Texas A&M went 4 of 18.

Marcel Reed completed 19 of 39 passes for 189 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. TK Norman caught 3 passes for 57 yards and Houston Thomas had 4 for 30. KJ Edwards led the Aggies' ground game with 20 yards on 6 carries, and Rueben Owens II added 13 on 4.

Simmons was 14 of 28 for 147 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and ran 4 times for 24 yards. Lee caught 7 passes for 94 yards. Kenric Lanier II had one catch for 16. Missouri won the turnover battle 2-1 and held the ball for 31:12.

Against the number

Missouri closed as a 4.5-point favorite and won by 21, a comfortable cover. The Tigers closed at -205 on the moneyline, with Texas A&M at +170.

The total closed at 50.5. The teams combined for 33 points, so the under was never in much danger. Texas A&M's offense did most of the work there: the Aggies have now scored 6 points in two of their three losses, including the 35-6 defeat at LSU.

What's next

Missouri goes on the road Saturday, October 17, to face No. 9 Ole Miss on SEC Network. The Tigers have won consecutive games over No. 8 Florida and Texas A&M since their only loss, 31-24 at No. 24 Mississippi State. The trip to Oxford is the next real test of whether this run game travels.

Texas A&M returns home the same day to host The Citadel on SECN+. The Aggies have alternated wins and losses through their last four games, and their three defeats have come against Kentucky, LSU and Missouri. A home date against an FCS opponent is a chance to steady an offense that managed 10 first downs in Columbia.
